There has been much hue and cry about Page Ranks. You must have heard people saying that page rank is directly related to your position in the search results. But many SEO experts would also tell you that page rank is only a part of the big puzzle of Google ranking. There are other important factors that influence the ranking of your site.

What is Page Rank?
PR is the link analysis algorithm of Google, which checks the inbound links of a site in terms of relevancy. It also takes into account the content quality, presence of keywords and similar other factors to determine the rank of the page. However, Google ranking algorithm has remained a well guarded secret and it changes very frequently.

What are the factors that influence site ranking?
Webmasters now have found that if importance is given to other non PR parameters too they can still rank higher than the other sites with greater PR. Some of the other factors which are important for SEO are:
- Keywords: You can use the tools available for the Webmasters to determine the competition on the different key phrases.
- Keywords density: Along with the right keywords it is important to maintain the right amount of keyword density on the page. Ideally, it should be between 2% and 5%. you may however avoid stuffing your page content with key words.
- Content: Well researched and quality content is the key to move up in the ranking ladder.
- Links: Quality and relevant links for your page would help increase its authenticity.
